INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Do you know what is System?               

It is a set of element or component which is consist of inputs, processing mechanism, outputs and feedback.

What is information system (IS)???

IS is an application of computer based Information Technology (combination of hardware, software, infrastructure and trained personnel) used to facilitate planning, control, coordination and decision making in an organization.

INFORMATION SYSTEM IN ORGANISATION

There are 6 components of CBIS:

-          Procedure

-          Database

-          Software

-          Hardwar

-   Telecommunication

-          And people

FUNCTION/ ROLES OF CBIS

COMPONENTS OF IS: HARDWARE

     Consists of  computer  equipment used to perform input, processing and output activities.

COMPONENTS OF IS: SOFTWARE

Consist of computer programs that govern the operation of the computer.

COMPONENTS OF IS: DATABASE

A database is an organized collection of interrelated data (records)

 COMPONENTS OF IS: PEOPLE

People who are:

- Manage the system

- Run the system
- Program the system
- Maintain the system 

COMPONENTS OF IS: PROCEDURES

•       Strategies, policies, methods and rules for using computer information system including operation, security and maintenance of the computer.

•        For Example: some procedures describe when each program should be run.
