Week 2

During the second week we didn’t study too much on lecture but we did very important activity was the group discussion and presentation. That activity made me gain more knowledge on Information Management (IM). We formed a group of five members to search about problems and solutions of IM. We chose two importance points to presents are Multilingual System and Social Engineering. Before we did research on IM, Miss Nisha had lectured us the lesson that related to IM, problems and solutions of IM.

What is IM? Information Management
is the application of management technique to collect information communication within and outside the organization and process it to be enable managers to make quicker and better decisions.

In terms of technology, information management encompasses systems such as:
       web content management (CM)
       document management (DM)
       records management (RM)
       digital asset management (DAM)
       learning management systems (LM)
       learning content management systems (LCM)

Apart from definition of IM, Miss Nisha taught us about problems and solutions of IM. She mentioned about command problems of IM in that week such below:
Large number of disparate information management systems.
Little integration or coordination between information systems.
Range of legacy systems requiring upgrading or replacement.
Direct competition between information management systems.
No clear strategic direction for the overall technology environment.
Poor quality of information, including lack of consistency, duplication, and out-of-date information.

On Wednesday morning, the presentation times were coming. There were about 8 groups present on that day. That was very good to hear them shown out there speak and their problems and solution of IM. Two hours were finished such a very short time. In that week, our group didn’t present because the time not allow us.
